it was originally located on the east side of fourth between Broadway & Thayer. The building was built in 1915 including the theater which shared the building with a photo studio next door and the Elks Lodge upstairs. The theater was closed sometime before 1927 aand was later taken over by a furniture store. That whole side of the block was leveled for a federal complex in the 1970’s.
This building was originally built as The St. John Garage in the 1910’s. The side walls and roof were kept but the facade was replaced for the theatre It was designed by Hill, Mock & Griffin Architects of Tacoma.
Built by James Gabel in 1923 for $25,000. It was purchased in 1937 for $50,000 by A.C. St. John who, coincidentally, was the same guy who sold his repair garage to be converted into the St. Helens Theater in 1924.
This theatre was operated by Twin City Theaters, which operated in Centralia & Chehalis. The Pipe organ was damaged in 1926 when a fire gutted half the building.
This theater was built in 1947 where the Safeway is and it was moved down the street (Bothell Way) in 1962. Not sure when it closed but it’s now a Used auto dealership
Demolished in 1969 for “Shopper’s Parking”.
