I saw Fantastic Voyage in 1966 at this one. Small, but it had a balcony. I’d heard channel 7 purchased it in the 70’s.

My sister worked the ticket booth there in the 60’s. Since I worked at the larger Capitol Theater nearby, we would borrow ice when we ran out on busy nights. The Arkansas Theater was much more classy than the others. The lobby had a double entrance balcony that led to the balcony in the house. Very nice.

I worked at this theater from 1965-66. It seated about 1,000 and was run by United Artists at that time.

I worked at the Capitol Theater (Capitol & Spring) from 1965-66. We ran 1st run movies like Sound of Music and Dr.Zchivago. The theater originally showcased plays and radio broadcasts. It was converted to show movies in the 1940’s. There were props stored back stage and above the UA offices from years gone by. There were also binders of newspaper ads from shows that dated all the way back to the 20’s. I hope some of the history was saved before they tore it down.
