It is not true that the Gaylynn Theater has been torn down. It still stands at the corner of US59 and Clarewood, and one can still clearly see that it’s a former theater. After being closed as a movie theater, it was used as an indoor amusement park for a while. More recently it housed a charter school. Although located on the same block, it never adjoined the mall. The Sharpstown Center Cinemas do adjoin the mall on the Bellaire side. A former department store was torn down to make way for them.
