Construction at the neighboring National Standard Building in 1947 creates an opportunity for the Loew’s State to put up a banner for “Lured” with Lucille Ball. The Loew’s State and its neighbor to the left, the Metropolitan Theatre, would leave the Houston skyline in 1973 with the National Standard Building going down for the count in 1985.
