1920 shot of the Washington with its marquee playing “The Confession.” W.D. Nevills created Dallas' first movie palace moving photoplays from Nickelodeon-esque “store-shows” to showplaces. He just didn’t plan for the large audiences and his diminutive 600-seater wasn’t large enough for the Dallas marketplace.
