I am a long time resident of Huntington Beach. I hate to tell you this but the Surf Theater is now a city parking lot. It played mostly surf and ski pictures from independent film makers.
The last movie I saw in there before we moved with my family was Bonnie and Clyde. What a great time the crowd had during the last shot out. Somebody from the crowd yelled out while Clyde was rolling on the ground" Don’t roll over on that side it will hurt". After that the crowd went silent for a minute. That was such a cool movie to see there.
my family would get into the stationwagon and see the movies on Saturday nights. Movies like Winnie the Pooh, Dracula has resin from his grave, Hell Fighters. Good sized snack bar and playground. Best was watching the spot lights on the screen chasing each other from the cars.
