A shot of the Paramount Theatre on Church Street, Downtown Nashville, 1968. The marquee differs from the 1930 photos posted by another member. Not sure when it was changed.

The Vertical is original in this photo, the marquee was replaced in the early fifties I believe.
The Tennessee and Loews Crescent were down the street from this theatre. The Paramount was closed and torn down in 1979.
This was made from 8th & Church St. There was a hotel where the parking lot shows. ben Frankiln was origionlly Sears. Zibarts Book Store was on the other side of the paramount.
For a parking lot? What an awful waste by short sighted politicians and greedy developers. Board it up and leave it for the next generation if u don’t have the money or imagination for anything but demolition and parking

March 2019 street view shows the site is finally being developed.
The Singer store left of center became the Midtown Theatre by 1977, showing x-rated films.
