I totally agree with Chris regarding Ray Faulkner. His knowledge of projection was second to none and a really nice person.His help in my early years as a projectionist at the Apollo was invaluable. Much missed.
I was chief projectionist here from 1999 to 2005 and would just like to make a minor correction; The third small screen in the old cafe/circle foyer had it`s own small projection box. The original projection box was only used for the two larger screens.
I was chief projectionist at the Grand from 1984 to 86 and showed the final film “Santa Claus the movie”. Just thought I`d correct a couple of things;
1. Conversion to three screens; screen one was in the circle and two and three in the stalls.
2.Screen 1 (old circle) was converted to bingo 1983/4 leaving two screens in the old stalls

After closure of bingo (which was transfered across the road to the Grand)
Still much the same today as J.D Wetherspoons.
Unusual set up as rewinding was done off the machine on seperate powered rewinder.
