Recent aerial view of North Ward Sports Reserve looking south towards downtown Townsville, with location of the Roxy Theatre marked. This hardtop opened in 1918 as Campbellās (City) Pictures. Later that year it became the Paramount, which it remained until rebranded Roxy in 1934. The Roxy name, inspired by the famous NYC 1927 picture palace, was retained until closure and demolition circa 1968.
