  • <p>The San Pablo Auto Movies opened on July 29, 1953 with a dual projector 3-D presentation of Paramount’s “Sangaree”.</p>

  • <p>Barbara Cornish officiates in the computerised ticket and seat booking office while our youngest theatre usher Samuel Dickinson greets patrons for a matinee screening. Both are unpaid volunteers, but are expected to give full professional standards of service.</p>

  • <p>In the 1950’s, a fire began in the projection room of the Princess Theatre killing the projectionist. The film that was used in those days was highly flammable as it ran through the projector. Often the film would ignite. A small vat of water was kept in the room to put the fire out.</p>
