  • <p>The El Dorado launched on May 30, 1921 with “Deception.” It competed against the Gem Theatre, Eris Theatre, Belmont/Palace, and the Royal theatres. Here’s their opening day ad.</p>
  • <p>This is the Gem Theatre in 1920 showing “The Branding Iron” as designed by its manager , W.R. Rowell. The Gem opened as the Palace Gem Theatre in 1907 and was apparently expanded by a floor in 1916 to become a larger by 300 additional seats and a more modern facility.</p>
  • <p>Here’s the Gem Theatre in 1915. The story says that the building will get an additional floor and be expanded by a Wichita architect.</p>
