“Warren L. Langwith’s New Car Parade - October 1954
Here’s another one of the beautiful new Pontiac’s for 1955, a Chieftain convertible.
The car is passing in front of the Esquire Theatre on the northwest corner of Third and Ripley streets. Advertised on the marquee are “The Westerner” starring Gary Cooper and Dana Andrews, along with “Dead End” starring Humphrey Bogart and Sylvia Sidney. The color cartoon was “Real Gone Woody.” Admission was 50 cents until 6:00 p.m.
At that time, the theatre was managed by Waldemar F. Hoffman, who lived nearby at 223 Scott Street.
Left of the theatre was the Columbia Hotel, 408 W. Third Street."
