This photo is from John Madges collection. Taken in April 1969 it shows the newly refurbished auditorium from the stalls. The heavy drapes along the side walls were necessary because of the flutter echo produced by the hard plaster surface of the parallel walls.
I salvaged the Australian Cedar doors when the building was gutted in the 1980s. I still have some rolls of two shilling tickets left somewhere, I’ll post a photo when I get a chance.
