The large auditorium, the left one was divided in 1975. I started working there in the summer, not long after the work was completed. When the cold weather came, we found out that the contractors had neglected to reconnect the heating system. It was a fun job.
Gretna Greens Drive-In was located between Lafayette St., and the railroad tracks, right before the Lafayette St./Belle Chase Hwy. split. After it was demolished, the Garden Lane Apartments (1901 Lafayette St.) were built on the site.
Westside Theater was located in Westside Shopping Center South. It, and what was once a supermarket next to it, have been turned into an off-track betting parlor by enclosing the alley between the two.
I went to school with the son of the owners. According to him the theater was shut down because the shopping center didn’t like the ‘crowd’ it attracted.
