The terra cotta banding is very special, an impressive structure overall, if the exterior is a clue to what treasures may be inside, this could contain a lot of promise for visitors
Growing up watching movies here was somewhat rare, a small but interesting colorful theater, and went back to the early days. Remember “Henry and June”. Competed with UA Midway
if you walk along the side of the building, as pointed out by theater historian Cezar Del Valle, you may notice there is an original sign reading “Paramount” alongside in large, faded lettering. There is an organ room where two special older folks work upstairs they will tour you if you find them, and the Wurlitzer rises up from the ground, one of the most magnificent sounds EVER heard.
This was a special local place where the “good movies” would play as opposed to the latest flicks. The concessions, the carpet, and low-key atmosphere made it a very memorably special place

There is a glorious second floor in original baroque decor, if you’re brave enough to climb up a lonely ladder

I believe the theater is in current operation, showing foreign films at a discount. It has three cinemas in a very confusing configuration
Some of the orig plaster is still intact though grimy instead of gildy they are nice to you if you need to look round- the ceiling has vents/grillwork
beautiful!
The architect was McElfatrick. A Wurlitzer replaced the old Moller organ in 1920. The original opening date of the theater was September, 1914.
