I would love to see the Ellis Theater that was on Frankford ( not the 1946 pic ) from the 1950’s up until it closed in the 1970’s. Anyone have any pics?
I used to live 4 blocks east of Frankford ave in the early to mid-70’s. My mom and I used to walk to frankford ave to the kresgee’s two stores down from this theater. I think by that time it was closed up but was still there. I was to young to realize they were showing X rated movies but mom would always pull me away from the place when I stopped to look at it.
damn! I am looking for pics of the Ellis Theatre inside and out to put on facebook. I have one from 1956 but thats it.
Gerald – the link doesn’t work.
Hey Adam – thanks for the info. Do you or can you get a hold of any pics of the Ellis theater inside of it or outside?
thx,
Eric
Here is what the inside looked like in the mid 1950’s when it reopened as the Ellis. I wonder what was left of this when it was torn down.

Anyone know what was left in the auditorium when it was torn down in 2003?

was this the theater that closed and was a Sears Surplus store in the 70’s and 80’s?
does anyone know what was left in the auditorium when the theater closed? Did anyone get to see the inside when it was torn down?
