Billy, do you still live in New Orleans? The Prytania has a framed poster on the lobby in their lobby with pictures of a lot of old New Orleans theaters. They have a picture of the Eastlake included among them.
Great pic! This is the first one I’ve ever found for the old Oakwood. Do you know of anyone who may have a pic of the Aurora Cinema 6, which was also on the Westbank (and similarly difficult to find a picture of)?
Does anyone out there have pictures of the Aurora? If so, please share. I went there a lot as a kid and have been looking for pictures for a while, but can’t find any.
Jaybee7414 is correct. Lakeside Theaters 1-4 was a separate complex entirely near where the Petco is now.
Lakeside IV-V was just behind the I-II-III building.
It closed in 1997. The Lakeside Cinema in the mall across the street closed in September 2000.
*I meant to say in the wall of their lobby.

It was like May or June of 1984.
It closed at almost exactly the same time the Belle Promenade Cinema opened, which I don’t think was coincidental.
Wonderful pictures, Bobby! Thanks for uploading. My grandmother used to take me to the Oakwood a lot.
It became a 4-plex in late 1980/early 1981, closed in 1990.
