NEW KING’S THEATRE OPENED BY THE PREMIER. MELBOURNE. The new King’s Theatre, built by Mr William Anderson, was opened by Sir Thomas Bent on Saturday night (July 11) in the presence of a packed audience. In declaring the theatre open the Premier observed that he had been at the opening of every playhouse in Melbourne except two, and he regarded the present ceremony as the most memorable event of the lot. Subsequently the health of Mr Anderson was honored in champagne. The piece staged was, “Man to Man” and it went with an excellent swing - Contributed by Greg Lynch –
