Gianni Morandi plays The Olympia to a full house during the 70’s.
Gianni Morandi made his debut in 1962 and quickly won a number of Italian popular song festivals, including the Canzonissima festival in 1969. In 1962 he was signed by RCA Italiana and achieved national stardom with the song “Fatti mandare dalla mamma”, and remained Italy’s darling throughout that decade. He was welcomed at The Olympia Theatre with a full house.
The photo was taken at Uncle Dominic’s Restaurant in William Street, Perth. From the left shows the promoter Ben Parri, Nico Rizzacasa, Gianni Morandi in the middle, with Uncle Domenic and Bruno Napolitano on the right.
