Proscenium
The cinema featured a “floating” screen, surrounded by what might be described as Roman pillars. Almost identical pillars were a feature of the Lyric Theatre Maylands proscenium, which is still standing today. A soundproof “crying room” was installed, to allow parents with crying babies to watch the movies and a “powder bar” in the women’s lounge was a special feature.
The theatre was also unique in that it used ducted ventilation rather than air conditioning – Contributed by Greg Lynch –
