The Lee Gordon Big Show at Festival Hall during October 1959, headlined by American teen heartthrob Fabian, was highly significant because Gordon would program Billy Owens, Malcolm Arthur and The Thunderbirds on the supporting half.

Subsequently this would confirm Billy Owens, Malcolm Arthur and The Thunderbirds as the top Melbourne Rock ‘n’ Roll acts and playing to full houses right across Victoria.
