The photograph shows an advertising poster for the original Crescent Theatre dated 1928, at the time it was taken over by the Christensens.
Notes - This Theatre was originally owned and operated by J.J. Woods. He opened it in The Crescent, Fairfield in competition to the Fairfield Picture Palace. It went through the hands of the Margettes family and was then rebuilt by Eric and Cecilia Christensen in 1928. The renovated building was then renamed The Plaza by the Christensens.
NOTE - In 1934 a new cinema named The Crescent opened in direct competition at the opposite end of The Crescent (Fairfield’s main street) The theatre became Hoyts Crescent in 1944 - Edited by: Simone Forrester
