SHIRLEY TEMPLE CONTEST - Echuca Winner Receives Presentation.
A pleasant interlude took place at the Paramount Theatre last night, when Mr W. Wearne, on behalf of the management, made a presentation to Nellie Symons, who won the recent “Shirley Temple” contest In Echuca.
Just prior to the screening ot “Curly Top,“ Mr Wearne announced that he had a duty to perform in connection with tho recent contest. He reminded the audience that Nellie Symons, daughter of Mr and Mrs Albert Symons had been adjudged the winner from 26 competitors.
The management felt that it would like to give something that she could keep throughout her life to remind her of the occasion. It had been decided to wait until the screening ot a Shirley Temple picture to do this and also, enable a photograph, autographed by Shirley Temple, to arrive from Hollywood.
When the contest was judged by the managers of Fox Films, they had stated that Nellie was one of the I best they had seen in Victoria. He also presented to little Miss Symons a framed photo of herself, representing Shirley Temple, and the one autographed by the great little star her-self.
The recipient thanked Mr Wearne sweetly, and gracefully bowed to him and the audience.
