Opening night industry gala-(1962 photos from Sandringham Historical Society newsletter 2005.)

The Sandringham Drive-In was Melbourne’s only independent Drive-In, and the first with 70mm when it opened in December 1962. It held 990 cars but was reduced in size 1981 when half the site was sold to developers.

It closed in 1984. A business park is now on the site, with no sign of its original use.

Correction - Note: Josem is spelt with an M.
