Theatre Royal Manifold Street and Bath Street, Camperdown, VIC
The Theatre Royal is located at the corner of Manifold Street and Bath Street. It opened on 11th April 1928 with William Boyd in “The Volga Boatman”. It is an addition, built at the rear of the Mechanics Institute hall.
It has the name ‘Picture Theatre’ inscribed in the stonework over the entrance, so was built to be a purpose-built cinema. In the 1950’s, the Royal Theatre is listed in use as a cinema.
