“Ranch Nights” or “Cowboy Nights” were historically popular events in Australian cinemas, particularly during the 19/40-50s.
These nights typically featured a Western double feature—two Western movies screened back-to-back—often becoming a weekly tradition for families. In the 40’s cinemas would program together double Hopalong Cassidy / Roy Rogers evenings - Audie Murphy Western movies were very popular in the 50’s
While these are less common today, several Australian venues and cinema chains still host dedicated Western movie events and double features:
