I think I remember seeing “Dressed to Kill” up in one of the converted balcony areas and my neck was all twisted as you had to turn to see the screen the way they cut the theater balcony in half and did not move the seats. What a mess.

I never saw this theater as a pussycat (Porno) theater, but the marquee was unmistakeably a “PussyCat job with the two tone purple/pink panels even when it was changed back to the Eagle.
Look at the color photo at the top, notice the colored panels and that oval ring of lights! Totally PussyCat in design.
Currently you can get a "Spiritual Cleansing” at this location. Plans for other venues at this location have not been approved due to lack of parking for the location etc. It is a shame it is not still a little neighborhood theater.
Ah….but don’t forget this building spent more of it’s life as the “La Tijera Lanes” (Bowling alley) than it did a movie theater. I remember wondering why the bowling alley had a strange planter out front (Old ticket booth) and nice showcases where they used to put the movie posters outside also. It is located on the southeast corner of La Tijera and Centinela, really ugly now and not worth looking at.
The Centinela Drive-In originally had the word Centinela mispelled with 2 Ls as in Centinella, not sure when this was fixed. It is also very well known for having been used in Peter Bogdanovitch’s “Targets” (1968) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0063671/
Where Boris Karloff is in the film playing an aging sci-fi star at a festival and as I remember he is up on the screen and also walking through the parking lot as some maniac is up in the screen shooting at people in their cars. Used to love seeing the movies from the 405 driving by in my parent’s car as a kid in the 60s.
Had a neato playground up near the screen to keep the kiddies happy and the snack bar was pretty wild also.
