Taken on the 4th June 2005. This is facing the stage / screen inside the Plaza. This open day was the last opportunity the public had to see inside the building. It had already had the 1958 interior removed at this point. The various objects are parts of scenery that were stored there and were brough out for the public to see. This is prior to the “Transformation” project, which saw the Leeds Grand Theatre renovated and the Howard Assembly Rooms “restored” to it’s appearance in the 1880s. The ceiling, alcoves and decorative curved circle were all ripped out, to reveal the vaulted ceiling of the 1880s.
