Queen's Picture House
All is changing at the Queen’s. This photo dates from either 1958 or 1969, because the case to the left of the main entrance sports a poster for the Queen’s Bingo & Social Club opening on Friday 1st August.
The main entrance was for the dearer seats. Leslie Halliwell’s first ever cinema visit was with his mother to the cheap seats at the Queen’s; the ‘fivepennies’ had their entrance at the screen end.
Trinity Street slopes up on the left. It is where Halliwell reports hearing the whirring of the projectors from inside the building.
