Sorry this is so late. This theater was never a Carmike, but I have heard Carmike did try to buy it, but REI never sold it. Carmike owned the theater at the Mall, but it closed in 2006.
Greenwood Cinema 10 was owned by REI Opening Day February 2000-May 2004. Dickinson owned it June 2004-May 2011. REI ran it again from June 2011-December 2015. Premiere Cinemas has owned it sine December 2015 and is in the process of remodeling.
I am still currently working there, since 2003.
My grandparents and cousin lived in Dillon County , so I saw several movies at this theater.
Some included :
Independence Day
Jumanji
Dumb and dumber
Rookie of the year
Blue chips
Apollo 13
Huck Finn
I lived in Gulf Breeze 1995-1999 and saw some movies at the mall. I had completely forgotten there was two movie theaters there. The info and history is very interesting.
I have worked at this cinema since October 2003 as an usher. We were actually Dickinson longer than just briefly. It was seven years June 2004-June 2011. REI is so much better.
Mike, according to a Facebook Greenwood group, there was another Drive In theater where KMart is now located.
I work at Greenwood Cinema 10, but want to see a drive in movie here one day. I have never seen one. I saw awhile back some college group from Augusta came to see a movie here .
Most of my memories are from the dollar theater. I guess it was cheaper then so we went more often. I do remember seeing a movie in 1987 called Caught. Billy Graham was in part of it, doing a crusade. It was a Christian movie.
I have a few memories of Regency Mall, and seeing movies. I do believe it is at the eight screen theater. I know it was free kid shows, early 1990’s. I wish I had memories of this place, sounds like a fun place to see movies. So sad everything is gone now.
Was this the theater that showed Free Kids Movies in the Summer ? I vaguely remember our church kids going to see a movie at Regency Mall probably 1990s ( I turned 13 in June 1990) and walking through mall and Ladies Clothes Store and girls telling me not to look at undergarments.
I cannot remember what movie, year, or seeing too many movies at either Regency theater.
The 10 Screen Theater up the Bypass became REI Cinemas in June 2011 again and we are glad. I wish they would put that on here.
I only saw a few movies at the mall. I remember you had to buy tickets for Passion of the Christ days in advance. Runaway Jury was fuzzy through the whole movie.
I believe it opened in 1991 because my Dad took my 12 year old sister to see Father of The Bride on a Father-Daughter date, and she said he laughed louder than anyone.
Once, in 1999, I went to see 10 Things I hate About You. I kept on giving the box office attendant a $ 10 bill he gave back. When I looked at it, I found out my Grandma (as a joke) had put a fake $ 10 bill in with my money to be funny. My Aunt came and paid for my ticket and I paid her back. She got on my Grandma- her Mom- for that. Good times.
Mike Rogers and All,
thanks for the info. I was born in 1977 and lived off Columbia Rd 1979-1995. I remember going to the dollar theater a lot in the 1990s. I walked there some. I remember it being 4 theaters. It is my all time favorite theater. A schoolmate at Augusta Christian’s grandpa ran it for a while. I loved going there and went a few times in late 90s when I visited my grandparents. I was sad when it closed. It looks so much different now. I miss it and have great wonderful memories and have dreamed of it some.
Apollo 1 and 2 is now a car dealership. They closed sometime after Cinema 10 opened in 2000. Cinema has been Dickinson since 2004.
The mall now has a new computer operated sign in front and got rid of the old theater sign.
Carmike Cinema closed at the mall in Summer 2000. The old location was torn down and is now parking for Sykes employees.

Vardoon, you are absoulety correct. I should have looked closer when writing that post in 2011. The mall theater closed in Summer 2006, not 2000.
Mike Rogers, yes the drive in here is open. You can see double features there. .

You are welcome Mike. That marque stayed up for over 3 years after the theater closed and was finally changed in late 2009.
Thanks for the info Mike Rogers. I appreciate it.
