The address is correct. The Lakewood was always the Lakewood. Originally this was the Twin Drive-In. The western screen was demolished when I-65 was constructed.
The local GIS doesn’t give street addresses for the Pike in that area. Google gives that location as between 2640 & 2760 Charlestown Pike. That’s as close as I can get. (and Google isn’t that reliable) All of the ads from that period just give a general location and then a “follow the signs”.
The more recent aerial that’s posted here has the streets of Foxboro showing. It was just north of the location given. It’s the “ball diamond” shape bordered by Savannah & Gander Drives.
No … it isn’t.
I’m a cartographer.
If you want to see the locations of drive-ins in this area go to Wikimapia and use the “historical layer / disappered object” setting.
Correction: It was originally Theatair. Then the Twin. Sat idle for a few years … then Theatair X. I’m including an ad from 1951.
No … strike that in parenthesis. Just Charlestown Pike.
So then it should be Charlestown Pike (historically Charlestown – New Albany Pike) & Savannah Drive.
It was there in the mid-80’s. Had the FM radio setting but still retained the speakers.
