I bet my Dad went to all three of these theaters since he grew up in Neffs,Ohio. I’ll have to ask him if he has any memories that I can share with all of you. He’s 76 years old and I’m sure he went to all of them at least once.
It may have been,I don’t live in Elyria so I wouldn’t know if they did or not unless they had a second entry on the same road where maybe they had an office. So I couldn’t tell you for sure.
I went there to see the first two Star Wars films in 1980 when Ep.4 was re-released and Ep.5 just came out. The last movie I can remember going to see there was Wayne’s World. I hate to see the small theaters go. Avon Lake was a good one to go to. Also if anyone from the area remembers Ridgeview Cinema in North Ridgeville and have pics or ads from when it was in use let me know on the entry I made for it.
I decided not to wait until the weekend to take the photos ans here they are for people to see. As you can see the place hasn’t been use in 15 or so year and is in really bad shape. The lobby roof has caved in and it has been broken into the past. One of the window on the right side by where the posters for screen 2 would have been was the ticket window. It was and still is North Ridgeville’s only movie house.
Also,if any one does have ads or pics of Ridgeview Cinema when it was in operation that be great to see. I can’t remember the last movie I saw there but until the multi-plex at Midway Mall was built I went there all the time with my parents when I was young. I also can’t remember if it was strictly first run until the very end or became 2nd run towards the end.
When the weekend rolls around I’ll stop by the plaza and take some photos of the outside and maybe if I’m lucky the windows and doors are not boarded up I can get shots of the lobby from the out side as well as long as the glass isn’t too cruddy.
It was also featured on “Paranormal Witness” on Syfy, though I don’t think the actual theater was used for the episode.

On a side note. The Flea Market that was held there has moved to the county fairgrounds in Berea.
The Agora took to being at that theater due to the fact that the original Agora burnt down in I believe 1980 or 1982.
I believe from the time that theater closed and became at bank it was a electronics store then that went bust and became a National City Bank branch.
