Hmm, I searched for anything listing Cedarbrae on this website before I entered this theatre here there was no information.
I did a search just now for Cedarbrae and only my entry shows, where is the other entry?
The year 1969 is correct for when the theatre began, I meant to post that but left it out by accident. Hopefully there is a way to edit what I entered, haven’t found a way to do that yet. Guess I have to contact the admins.
The Birchcliff Theatre opened in 1949, located at 1535 Kingston Rd. Scarborough, Ontario.
The theatre was built on the old foundation of the barns that once housed a type of streetcar known as a “radial car”, which ran along Kingston Road to West Hill.
The Birchcliff Theatre’s business declined following the advent of multi-theatre cinemas and it was demolished in 1977.
A Toronto Emergency Medical Service (EMS) ambulance dispatch building was then built on the site of the theatre – it remains as of this posting (July 2008).
