I uploaded a picture of the Rex Theater from the 1920’s. I believe it was remodeled and renamed the La Vista.

Malcolm, when the Top O' Texas Drive In closed, it was moved to the old Pampa Drive In site on the south side of Pampa. The old screen was still standing and another was added to make a twin. It was called the Top O' Texas Twin Drive In. The original Pampa Drive In had been closed since the early ‘60s.

I remember going to the Pampa Drive In when I was like 5 or 6. I believe it closed around 1963?

Great picture. This must have been when it was new. I wonder what year they added the neon Texas outline with the pulsating star where Pampa was?

The Crescent Theater burned in 1930 and was replaced by the La Nora Theater

I noticed the address of the Top O' Texas Theater is listed at 2215 North Hobart on the advertisement.

The LaVista operated well into the 1970’s.

It was a really nice theater when it first opened. I remember going to see the first Star Wars movie there when I was in college in the late 70’s.

The Top O Texas Theater was moved from the north part of town to the former Pampa Drive In site in the early ‘80’s because a Wal-Mart was built there. The new one was a twin drive in. They just added another screen to the original one. There were even plans to add a third screen if it had been successful.
