Don’t forget about the River Lane drive in in Loves Park,Il. Also the Sunset was originaly called Lin’s Air Theatre. It had the largest outdoor screen in the area possibly the nation.
The State theatre was much older it oppened in the Early 20s as the Palm it closed for a time and was a miniture golf then it was turned into a theatre it had a Kimball theatre organ it was torn down to make ready for a senior citizen residence building
The Rialto theatre was designed by Fred Klein the same person that did the Coronado . It oppened in February of 1928 and had a 3 manual 10 rank Barton pipe organ. In its later years it was operated as the Capri . Water damage took its toll . When the roof first started leaking if they had applied a $10.00 roof patch it would still be here today
The Apollo Theatre Had A Wurlitzer Theatre organ It was a 4 rank piano style instrument and was played by Bertha Woods . I has been said that in the depression era that a manager of the house hung himself from the proceneum arch . JimG
