Another theater that I don’t see a listing for was in the Village, a little hole in the wall called the Art Cinema I believe. I saw some great foreign films there as well as some soft-core nudie flicks. We’re talking mid-to-late ‘60s. Seeing “8 ½” there, the first foreign film I ever saw, was a life-changing experience.
In the early ‘70s there was a movie theater across Gray that showed classic and foreign films. I believe it was called the Act II but I could be confusing that name with something else. Does anyone remember it? I saw so many classic foreign films there for the first time in '71-73.
Wasn’t there another theater closer to downtown called the Navigation or the Canal?
