Saw a SOUND OF MUSIC re-release here in what would have been very late in its existence, possibly 1977. My recollection is that this one was a four-screen by that point, but I can’t swear to it.
The Opera House only shows movies once a year as of 2017, during its film festival. There was a weekend summer film series as late as 2010, but not in years since.
It has been used as a performance hall recently; Molly Ringwald sang here in 2016.
This was the first regular theater I went to; saw Star Wars there, once we could finally get in. I did hear that late in its life — the 1980s — it was used to show military training films for the Millington Naval Air Station recruits, but cannot confirm this.
There was briefly another theater (a quartet?) in the 1970s in the shopping center across the street, next door to Coletta’s, but I have not found it on the site.
