Star Theatre
Very early photograph of the building that is addressed today as 286 Commercial street.
Wippich Jewelers were located in the same building that eventually shared the Star Theatre.
There may have been an entity known as Wippich Theatre for a brief time that was a vaudeville stage theatre, and then became the Star Theatre around 1910. It is difficult to determine if the theater, either as “The Star Theatre” or “The Wippich Theatre”, ever existed as a live stage venue.
A projectionist for the years when the Star Theatre operated as a silent movie house, was Antone Joseph Viera. Viera would go on to continue projecting at the Provincetown Theatre, which opened in 1919.
