G. David Schine a son of one of the Schine brothers was a major supporter of Sen. Joseph McCarty in the 1950’s. He was featured promently on television during the army-Mccarthy hearings. For our younger readers this was a mojor event in the 1950’s
My brother told me that many years ago when the building was a Myles shoe store he looked in to the rear of the store and the stage was still there. I assume the stage was removed when the building was converted to a drug store.
A picure book called Bensonhusrt, Bath Beach, and New Utrecht communities on page 141 has a 1914 picture of a theatre on 20 ave & 64 st called Tobias & Jentzens photo Lyceum it appears to be fairly large I Don’t know if this the same Theatre.
Dee Ann I don’t know how to contact you but I attendend Shallow JHS from 1956-59 and had your father as a teacher. He was a wonderful man. One of the things I remember was that there was a student who was severly disturbed and your father was the only one who could control him.
I attended the colony as a very young child. I do not believe it was demolished. At present the site is a Rite Aid Drug Store. I believe the building the store is in is the Colony’s building
