On October 18, 1950 Hurricane King made landfall on downtown Miami, Florida. The city’s Weather Bureau office, which was struck by the eastern eyewall, recorded sustained winds of 122 mph with gust estimated at 150 mph.
The Miami News reported a twister striking west Hallandale and west Hollywood at 1:00am moving northwest into Davie. State Road 7 (US-441) was blocked by fallen trees from 125th ST in Dade County to Broward Blvd.
The fencing on all three sides of the drive-in perimeter was knocked down.
