from: The Oakland Cultural Herritage Survey “ 1424 23rd. Ave. is a Mission Revival commercial building in the 23rd Avenue and East 14th Street Commercial district. It is high one story, long narrow rectangular plan, on an interior lot. It has an elaborate shaped and stepped paraphet with deep three-dimensional stucco mission arch, pilaster panels, and three arched windows on a molded sill within the arch, and a large transom with divided sash. Exterior walls are textured stucco and wood siding. roof is composition. Structure is wood frame. The building has stucco ornament and colored tile inserts. ”
