Hello people! Jose Otero could you please tell me an email address so i can get in contact with you. Im from Puerto Rico and would like to ask you some questions. Andy, saludos espero que te encuentres bien.
I also want some pics if they are available. I love cinemas (the old ones, MOVIE PALACES) and Im young. I hate the new stadium seating. Love to see some pictures of the old cinemas of Ponce De Leon…my email is: or
I went to this theater to see it but I only see it from outside. I talked with the person who has it now, I think the daughter of Rosa. They want to sell it. I dont remember well but I think that the theater holds up to 500 people. She said to me that the it have the original carbon projectors. I look at the lobby and its very small but still very nice and clean.
Since the Cinema 150 closed, this is my favorite theater to truly feel the movie experience. It had great sound and projection. The main screen had dts and dd sound but caribbean cinemas dont work anymore with dts equipment (they uninstall all dts equipment from all of their theater in PR and the caribbean). The best place to see a good movie.
The theater inside is still very intact. It has the stage and the balcony pretty good and original condition. The projection booth was renovated to put the dj and sound equipment.
i went to El Teatro a fw months ago. It still have the original red carpet in the stairs that leads to the balcony. Also still have one of the original poster case in the entrance.
The Cinema 150 is waiting for someone with movie. The owners of the shopping center are renting the place; the cinema 150 alone or the whole cinema 150 5-plex.
The goverment is in fase 1 of the renovation process. With all the area of Rio Piedras is in remodeling the goverment decide to restore the Paradise. Hope to see this one again.
Later in The San Juan Star, published an article that the Land Authority of Puerto Rico is the organization that wants to restore the Paramount. The ones that said that the Paramount should be demolish was the Institute of Puertorrican Culture(ICP) because the theater is past the restoring point and had no historical value. But the Land Authority will restore it. The goverment gave it a $4 million budget. They will demolish the back and make it new and the facade will be restore because it is in good share said the Land Authority. Shame on the ICP.
The Matienzowill raise again. I enter to the Matienzo and they are working on it. They installed a new roof and right now are working in the rest of the theater. The projection booth and the balcony its almost complete. The rest of the theater and the Music Hall next door are in working progress but they are on it.
Jose when was published that article. I want to read that. You know were are located the Land Authority offices; i want to take some pics of the Paramount before they make that massacre. Please contact me.
Caribbean Cinemas closed the Fine Arts and is curremtly renovating it. It will have six screens and will be like the new Fina Arts Cafe in Hato Rey.
You are wrong.
It was operated by Cine Vista not Caribbean Cinemas and the T.G.I. Friday’s also closed after bankruptcy.
