Actually the Westwood theater was built on the property next door to Chief on the west side of the drive-in. Watched a lot of movies at both places long ago.
My mother grew up in Healdton in the 1940’s and 50’s. She remembers a second theater that was built in the 1940’s. It was located on the same side of Main St. but was for or five blocks down from the “Thompson”. That theater’s name was the “Texan” and that it showed mostly Westerns and “B” movies. My maternal grandfather was full of history of Healdton, being born and raised in the area. Before his death twenty-seven years ago, he told all kinds of stories and one of them was watching the “Thompson ” being built and how excited every one was. He said it was in the late twenties. I hope that helps you.
