Adelphi One cinema was fantastic theatre – as they had a top quality 70mm projector and great sound system. Original POLTERGEIST was a stunning experience. Sadly 70mm projector was sold in late 1980’s – so films looked “lost” when shown on giant screen.
Had the “honour” of being at this cinema when it opened as a three screen in 1980. Movie was RAISE THE TITANIC. Scores of visits there when I used to attend the DFF in the 80’s and 90’s – but have not been there for over a decade.
Was a terrible cinema. Poor seating and really bad sound.
Savoy 1 theatre from 1969 – 1979 was a magnificent place to see a movie – that’s where I saw the original STAR WARS in 1977.
