My dad was a milkman and I remember as a kid helping deliver milk eating at the diner pictured here at three in the morning. Then my dad also worked part time as a presser at Saltz & Sons, the sign on top! We would have dance recitals at the Central Theater when in Dotty Locker Dance School (on Broadway), and Walter Kormin Dance School (on the third floor next to Lofts Candy at the corner of Jefferson & Main).
My mom and dad had their wedding reception in the Ritz Ballroom in 1935, and I remember going to the Montauk for the Saturday kids matinees in the 50’s & 60’s.
I along with my sister were in many dance recitals held there. Dotty Locker and Walter Kormin Dance Studios were the two we danced in back in the late 50’s. Like others, too bad I didn’t take more pictures of the place!
