The original Bay Terrace and shopping center of the early 60's
was indeed a microcosm that spoke volumes in design for the
period. I recall my childhood visits in the early 70’s and
that interior was global. Better than the Hall of Science.
Saw my first 3-Stooges flick in there on a revival.
Can you think of a better venue for them?

If you were a child in Queens in the early 70’s, The Meadows
was an incredible first major motion-pic experience.
My folks tagged me along to catch Woody Allen’s “Sleeper”,
on a Saturday matinee. Barren house…we sat in row 6.
I loved it…couldn’t bear to leave. The lunch at the
Whelan Drug counter across the street was also a fading
classic. Now it’s a Radio Shack. Good grief..!

As a 12 year old retro-head in 1979, nothing made the Quartet more special than the tiny adjoining shop on the left: Mike’s Comic Hut.
It was there that I acquired my first ancient TV Guide (1959 NYC
edition, James Arness, cover)-awesome. Subsequently, my strategies
were devoted toward slinking in there upon any family trip down Northern Blvd. from Forest Hills….and how about that great classic
diner across the blvd…enjoyed many a pre-n-post show treat in there amidst the chrome Seeburg consolettes…talk about gone forever!
