The UA Phelan 6 was initially operated by United Artists, which is why there was a “UA” in the theater name of the UA Phelan 6. See in the photos section a storefront of the Phelan after it was closed during the Hollywood Theaters operating years. You will see that the “UA” letters had been removed from the theater name.

From the Corpus Christi Caller-Times: The coming of the stadium seating megaplex did in the small theaters. Cine 6 lasted for 33 years before it closed on August 2, 2001. The theater ran arthouse and independent movies along with some newer films, but couldn’t attract enough business with those selections to earn enough profit. For Trivia Buffs: The final films shown at Cine 6 were Pearl Harbor, Tomb Raider, A.I.: Artificial Intelligence, The Mummy Returns, Moulin Rouge, Crazy/Beautiful and Swordfish.
