Grew up in the Richardson area and frequented the Northwood Hills 4. Saw Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom at least 8 times in 2 weeks here. Remember being scared when my dad took us to see Colors here in ‘88. I would hang out at Bill’s Records next door until my movie started. Wow, the memories!
This was “the” theater to see all the “event” movies. Star Wars, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Goonies, JFK, Jurassic Park, Godfather re-release. One of my best memories of this place was the sound system. I still have the score to Last of the Mohicans embedded in my brain. Truly a one-of-a-kind!

There was a viaduct underneath LBJ freeway that I would crouch down and walk thru to get to the Loews Park central. I was a “latch-key” kid so movies were a great escape for me. I remember seeing Police Academy 2, Crocodile Dundee, Witness, Lethal Weapon 2, Spaceballs, and the classic Tom Berenger musical, Rustler’s Rhapsody, all at this theater.
I remember seeing the Scott Baio flick “Zapped” here. In the early 90’s there was a go-kart facility on the land. As of today, a new medical facility and a handful of fast food joints operate on the site.
Damn megaplexes! I saw John Woo’s “Hard Boiled” here as part of the USA Film Fest. Also saw “The Rocketeer” and they had a carnival in the parking lot to tie in with the film. Last flick i saw here was “Jarhead” in 2005.

There is a church being developed on the site.
