I have Great memories of The Savoy in particular during the 1980’s and 1990’s. My Wonderful Grandmother Edna worked at the Savoy for Donkeys years, right in to her 80s.
She too worked for Mr Edge(along with others during the years).
Nan also previously worked at The Davenport which was just great, the Pantos were incredible.
My brother and me would help Nan at the cinema during our school holidays, which were always busy due to two shows a day. Comp tickets were a real treat for us.
Does anybody remember the tale of the lady who spelt of Lavender near the projection room?
I also worked at the Savoy briefly as an Usherette(The Brown Polyester uniform with Gingham trim!!).
Memories of the Savoy are now even more prominent to my brother and me, as sadly we have just lost our beautiful nana Edna(April 2013).
If anybody knew Edna, it would be lovely to hear your(nice) stories.
