Yep, closed now. I did get a tour of it with my dad one Saturday! They had those really old cameras, like the big blue ones where you put reels of film on the top and bottom. I did get pictures of the marquee, which was great but dull.
:( =( :% Yeah, it’s either closing or closed. Nothing on the marquee. But, unfortunately, it was in very sad shape. The front of the facade {including neon} looks like a truck took a chunk out of it.
PLEASE GOD- Don’t let Cincinnati’s cult destroyers destroy it like they did Beechmont Mall! I LOVED THAT PLACE.
:{
NOOOOOO!!!! I’m pretty sure it’s closing! They had the same movies on the facade for like 4 months, but now there’s nothing! I didn’t believe my sisters or dad when I heard about it, but it’s sad because it’s one of (if not) the last dinner theaters in the Queen City!
I went to see “March of the Penguins” there last fall. It is a small theater, smaller than it appears from the outside. The snack bar is tiny too. It’s there right when you walk in, so that ought to attract sales! The screen size is decent, and the seats are kinda squished together. Let me tell you now- I think “March of the Penguins” would be overwhelming in IMAX! The catch? I went with my sister’s stuffed penguin, Konica bowtie and all! I hope you all had a blessed Christmas and a happy New Year’s Eve. Stay tuned!
The Oakley Drive-In is closing! I went on a tour of it and it was amazing. Sad sad sad. The outlets for the long-gone car speakers were still there, but covered with something like wax. There were old bottle caps all smashed and rusted into the ground so hard you couldn’t pull them out with your bare hands. The asphalt was really bad too. One area was even closed off with caution tape because it was in such bad shape. They sold it to someone else, who plans to make it into a mall. Stupid strip malls! That is ALL WE NEED in Cincinnati right now. But it’s too late. In a while, it will be no more. Poor poor Oakley. We’ll miss you!
(P.S: Sorry for the long post. :) )
On www.theshadowlands.net/places/ohio it mentions the Variety Theater. It says that there are a figure in white and a man with red eyes. There is paranormal stage noise that is reported to have been made by a worker who fell off the light balcony and died on the stage. My friend Anthony Asher can see ghosts, even though he is 9 or 10 like me.
I am 10 years old and live in Cincinnati OH USA. I am doing a report on Indiana in my 4th grade class at St. Ursula Villa, a catholic school. In my hometown of Cincinnati. Is this the only Indiana Theater in Indiana????
Sincerely,
Peter Huffman :)

Sorry, don’t try to go there. I tried it and it doesn’t work.
Well, a lot later, I did get a couple of pictures of the facade, but 1)not digital, 2)can’t REdevelop as PictureDisk.
Thanks, guys! I go googoo for Googie!

That is very strange! I wonder if there are any theaters shaped like a lighthouse? That would be cool.
I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to be “Mr. High and Mighty”.
ba dum bup bamp ba….I’m Lovin' It!
I guess it’s not. I’M BACK!!!!

Yeah, and saying I’m only 10 years old, I don’t even know who Bruce Tut is!

Oh, well. Mr. Todd Swormstedt couldn’t have his cake or eat it, either. TOOOOOOOOO BADDDDDDDDDD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This theater seems to have an English-medieval theme.
What a queer name for a town!
